Safety First

U.S. Underwater Services is committed to providing safe work sites for all of our employees, both on land and in the water. Throughout our operations, we exceed or meet every OSHA standard and use the ADCI Revision 6.2 and Navy Revision 7 Dive Standards. We continuously examine methods to improve our safety practices. This commitment to safety serves multiple purposes such as protecting our workforce, reducing fiscal liability for our clients, and providing a framework for continuous improvement.
A key component of our corporate safety program is the SAFE/Take 5 Program that identifies hazards, assesses risk, and eliminates or minimizes potential danger before the start of each and every U.S. Underwater project. SAFE is an acronym for:

  • Spot the Hazard
  • Assess the Risk
  • Fix the Problems
  • Evaluate the Results
The successful implementation of this program begins with oversight by our experienced management team, and is supported by regular company-wide safety training and diligent monitoring of policies and procedures.

Our safety program includes the following core safety policies/procedures:
  • Utilization of a OSHAS 18001 and ISO 9001-compliant Safety and Quality Management System
  • Active membership in dive safety committees like ADCI, BP and Shell to name a few
  • CPAR System - Corrective, Preventative and Action Report for process review and improvement
  • Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for every project
  • Random drug screening program through DISA
  • Extensive and ongoing employee training and certification
  • Weekly safety meetings that include a forum for sharing suggestions for improvements
  • Mandatory workplace audits
